Yes! We offer custom paint mixing for Berger Paints in-store, so you can get the perfect shade to match your style or existing decor.

What’s the difference between emulsion and oil-based paints, and which finish should I choose?

Emulsion (water-based) paints are ideal for walls and ceilings. They dry quickly, have low odor, and are easy to clean up.

Oil-based paints are more durable and better suited for wood, metal, and high-traffic areas, but take longer to dry and require paint thinner for cleanup.

When it comes to finishes for your paint in Jamaica, flat (or matte) hides imperfections and works well for ceilings or low-traffic areas. Low sheen is easier to clean and great for living spaces, kitchens, and hallways. Gloss offers the most durability and shine, which is perfect for doors, trims, and furniture.

What type of paint should I use for interior walls, and can I use exterior paint indoors?

For interior walls, emulsion paints are the best choice. They provide smooth coverage, dry quickly, and are low in odor. While exterior paints are formulated to withstand weather, they’re not recommended for indoor use due to their stronger odor and additives. Likewise, interior paint shouldn’t be used outside, as it won’t hold up against rain, sun, or moisture. Choosing the right paint in Jamaica for the space ensures proper performance and lasting results.

Do I need to prime concrete walls, and how many coats of paint should I use?

Yes, even when you paint in Jamaica, concrete and rendered walls should be primed with a proper concrete primer before painting. This seals the surface, improves paint adhesion, and helps achieve a more even finish. After priming, most projects require at least two coats of paint for full coverage and durability. Some of our customers painting over a similar color have managed with one coat, but we always recommend two for the best results.

How much paint do I need for my space?

A gallon of paint typically covers about 350 to 400 square feet per coat. If you bring in your room dimensions or a rough sketch, our team can help you calculate exactly how much paint you'll need — with no waste or shortage.

Do you sell decorative finishes like trowel-on?

Yes, we do. Trowel-on is a heavy-bodied textured finish designed for both interior and exterior walls. It’s widely used in paint across Jamaica to coat full exterior surfaces, especially where walls are uneven or exposed to harsh weather. Unlike regular paint, trowel-on is a one-coat application that can mask imperfections, fill minor cracks, and withstand the elements thanks to its anti-fungal, anti-algal, and weather-resistant properties.

Many of our customers choose trowel-on for its long-term durability. It can last 10 years or more when properly applied. We stock several texture options, including ultra-fine, fine, coarse, and ultra-coarse, and it can be tinted in standard colors or custom-mixed to order.
